Board approves short-term lodging at two Laconia properties; rejects proposal.
Zoning Board of Adjustment · Meeting of August 17, 2026
NH LACONIA — Laconia Zoning Board approves short-term lodging at two sites, rejects 16-unit proposal. The Board voted 4-1 to approve short-term lodging at 86 Chapin Terrace after a Housing Appeals Board order vacated prior denials, imposing pet prohibition and fire-permit conditions. At 39 Gale Avenue, the Board voted 5-0 to approve short-term lodging after reversing an initial denial, recognizing the use as grandfathered nonconforming.
The Board unanimously denied Water View Properties, LLC a variance for 16 dwelling units on 0.42 acres at 5 Hilliard Road, finding undue conflict with ordinance intent. Variances for two dwelling units at 85-87 Garfield Street and camper storage at 166 Gilford Avenue were unanimously approved.
