NH LACONIA — City Council voted to shift wastewater authority from state to regional control. The Laconia City Council unanimously backed transitioning the Winnipesaukee River Basin Program to a separate regional wastewater authority after its advisory board documented $1.86 million in wasted spending on failed projects. The council also unanimously approved traffic orders for two September 11 events: a Sock Hop in Rotary Park with extended Social District hours and a 25th anniversary ceremony closing Main Street.
Two capital requests advanced to public hearings on September 14: a $112,000 HUOT facility boiler replacement and an $86,500 Homeland Security Grant for police surveillance cameras.
