NH LACONIA — Downtown social district framework moves to public hearing after subcommittee review. The Public Safety Subcommittee advanced planning for the downtown initiative, with a city council review and public hearing scheduled for April 13, 2026. City Manager Kirk Beattie presented a management and maintenance plan covering operational hours proposed at 12 to 8 p.m., a May 28 start date, and liability questions regarding patron injuries on downtown sidewalks; cup stickers will be sold by the city for $1 each, with businesses paying for cups.
Economic and Housing Development Director Joia Hughes visited all downtown businesses and distributed meeting minutes; some business concerns were raised but the committee believes they have been addressed.
