Parks Commission approves nine facility use requests and funds master plan chapter.

NH LACONIA — Laconia Parks and Recreation Commission clears nine facility use requests for 2026 events and allocates $15,000 for master plan parks chapter. Commissioner Mitch Hamel led the commission in unanimously approving events including the 97th World Championship Sled Dog Derby in February, youth lacrosse clinics and games, softball tournaments at multiple fields, a co-ed baseball game, jet ski races at Opechee Point, and a community festival at Weirs Community Parking Lot; Director Amy Lovisek will coordinate parking logistics between festival organizers and the Weirs Community Park Association. Commissioner Roy motioned to fund a parks chapter in the city's comprehensive master plan from user fees, and the commission approved unanimously, pending city council action.
