Building Code Board hears arguments on fire-code appeal timeliness

NH LACONIA — The Building Code Board of Appeals heard arguments on the timeliness of a fire-code permit appeal. Chair Richard Boddie presented evidence that the building permit for 1165 Weirs Boulevard Unit 9 was issued September 25, 2025, and under Laconia City Code Section 119-13, appeals must be filed within 20 days. The appeal application was not received until January 27, 2026, well outside the deadline, according to Board Counsel Drummond Woodsum.
Public comment addressed fire safety and separation distance concerns, though Boddie clarified the Board was focused solely on jurisdictional and timeliness questions.
