Laconia Water Commission advances source water protection plan

NH LACONIA — Laconia Water Commission unanimously approves finances and advances source water protection initiatives. Superintendent Ben Crawford reported on a site walk with state and regional environmental officials to address stormwater draining into Weirs Boulevard and Langley Brook, with plans to use city-owned sites and pursue Brownfield Funds for cleanup. The commission also discussed meter reading options and is considering a $32,000 radio communications upgrade, including $14,000 for stations and $18,000 for base and antenna equipment.
Crawford warned the board that staffing challenges, including an unfilled laborer position, will lead to complete office staff turnover within six years.
