City Council schedules Colonial Theatre purchase hearing

NH LACONIA — Laconia City Council sets stage for major Colonial Theatre purchase decision. Councilor Bogert moved to schedule a public hearing for May 26 on the $8,117,653.39 purchase, backed unanimously by the council; City Manager Kirk Beattie outlined FY27 costs of $268,200 in bond principal, $188,500 in bond interest from Downtown TIF, and $60,000 in condo association fees. The council unanimously approved two temporary traffic orders for summer events: the Belknap Mill steam car tour and Laconia Motorcycle Week, June 13-21.
The council also unanimously approved restoration of property at 72 Jefferson Street to its pre-merger status and adopted the Social District Management and Maintenance Plan.
