City Council elects Julia Nye to Ward 5 vacancy

City Council · Meeting of August 17, 2026

NH LACONIA — Laconia City Council unanimously elected retired attorney Julia Nye to the Ward 5 City Council seat. Nye won 5-0, with candidate Mark Roy's nomination failing 1-4. The vacancy resulted from Councilor Steven Bogert's recent resignation, with the term expiring January 1, 2028.

The council also unanimously approved a building permit for 79 Eastman Shore Road South on a private road, contingent on Project Manager review and a signed city liability waiver. A public hearing on a $10,000 Rotary Club donation for Rotary Park irrigation was rescheduled to September 14, 2026.
