Conservation Commission revises Natural Resource Inventory guidance

NH LACONIA — Laconia Conservation Commission revises Natural Resource Inventory approach, identifies six resource threats. The seven-member commission, led by Chair Dean Anson, recommended the 2022 NRI adopt FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps as its primary flood-risk reference while removing third-party predictive data, and add Peverly Pond to the Water Resources section. The Commission identified six threat categories: habitat loss, wetland degradation, climate change impacts, water quality degradation, development in sensitive areas, and gaps in public education.
Each identified threat must include paired mitigation strategies, members agreed.
