Council approves $100,000 grant application for Belknap House sewer repairs

NH LACONIA — Laconia City Council approves $100,000 emergency grant for Belknap House sewer repairs. The council unanimously approved a Community Development Block Grant application, allocating $85,000 to Belknap House, a family shelter serving low- and moderate-income residents, and $15,000 to the city for administrative and labor compliance costs. The council also approved an anti-displacement plan for the project and authorized City Manager Kirk Beattie to negotiate a successor agreement with the Town of Gilford for the Lakes Business Park that allocates 25 percent of property tax revenue to Laconia.
The council approved first reading of Resolution 2026-01 to accept a $26,405 Homeland Security Grant for police tactical equipment.
