Subcommittee approves chickens, rabbits in residential zoning

NH LACONIA — Laconia's City Council Subcommittee on Government Operations & Ordinances discussed zoning changes permitting residential livestock on owner-occupied properties. Councilors Hoffman, Bogert, and Conant approved allowing chickens and rabbits by right, directing Planning Director Rob Mora and Assistant Planning Director Tyler Carmichael to spend one month researching bee-keeping regulations and bee-related concerns before finalizing ordinance language. The committee declined to add ducks and goats.
The subcommittee also finalized the Colonial Theatre Advisory Board as one City Councilor, one Library Board member, one Powerhouse Theater representative, and two public members serving two-year terms, pending Powerhouse Theater's confirmation of interest.
