Committee approves two events, continues motorcycle parking application

NH LACONIA — Committee approves Sock Hop and carnival, continues parking application review. The Special Events Review Committee unanimously approved the annual Sock Hop scheduled for September 11, 2026, at the Belknap Mill, with Fallon Reed presenting for the Belknap Mill Society; the event includes outdoor movie, classic car show, food vendors, and live music with temporary Social District expansion to Rotary Park. Applicant Peter Cushing's Summer Carnival at the Weirs, August 20-23, also won unanimous approval with required police detail coordination.
The committee continued the Laconia Motorcycle Week parking application to September 2 pending updated site plans and documentation. The 2026 Motorcycle Week After Action Report, accepted by the committee, documented traffic congestion near Tower Hill and Endicott Street, and identified unauthorized vendor activities as key concerns for future management improvements.
