Laconia Planning Board approves short-term lodging ordinance

NH LACONIA — Laconia Planning Board votes to restrict short-term lodging in residential neighborhoods. The board voted 4-1 to recommend amendments to city zoning ordinances sections 235-13, 235-41, and 235-70, forwarding the measure to City Council for consideration. Public comment ran 62 minutes with 16 speakers, with supporters citing neighborhood safety and opponents including Mayor Mike Bordes citing tourism and property-rights concerns.
The RS zone comprises approximately 20 percent of the city, and Planning Board member Mike Conant cast the sole dissenting vote.
